The Importance of Roof Insulation

Undoubtedly, concrete materials absorb heat, which is why a variety of materials have been developed for thermal insulation. These materials have become widely used. One such material is rock wool, which comes in the form of boards that are attached to the surface, or as mosaic tiles with a high percentage of stone wool. Another method involves spreading a roll of raw stone wool over the entire surface, followed by pouring a layer of concrete on top.

Perlite is another option, a versatile and expensive mineral used for thermal insulation. It is either spread over the surface in a special way or mixed with concrete, where it not only reflects heat but also acts as a sound insulator. However, even with proper insulation, roofs may still develop moisture issues due to cracks that allow water to seep in, leading to dampness—a common and problematic issue in homes.

Bitumen sheets, which contain bitumen, are applied using gas heat and are effective at preventing water from leaking through the roof. Another material, water glass, is dissolved in water and applied directly to the surface using a spray gun. Silicon anhydride, a durable insulating material mixed with cement, strengthens the concrete mixture and is also used for waterproofing when poured as a layer. Paraffin is often used in conjunction with water glass.

Modern insulation techniques also include layers of polystyrene or cork, which are excellent for sound insulation. These blocks fit well on the surface and are covered with a layer of cement. Bitumen, which is produced in barrels, is heated and melted into a liquid state, then spread across the surface and allowed to dry, forming a protective layer.
